Reviews crawled with incorrect star ratings?

Yes, there are number of listings on Google Maps that have reviews that are crawled with a star rating that is different from that seen on the original review site. Interestingly, these “incorrectly crawled”reviews are not a mistake, but they are reoccurring from some websites.

bad reviews business

I have heard lots of complaints from business owners and online reputation management companies who represent businesses online, but sadly nothing seems to have been done about it by Google. Well, yes, everything will change, and everything will get re-indexed, but is Google going to reimburse the money these businesses will lose during the mean time? (Actually I have been tracking some of them for months now, and nothing has changed!).

Review Sites have to follow the hformats specified by Google so that the aggregated content is seen better by the search engines and crawled better too.  Errors are possible, but listings with these bad reviews can affect the business adversely and we hope that search engine giants take care of such things with more care in future.

Google Place page or Google Places?

Google has just made the whole thing simple for people to understand.  The so called Google place page has become Google Places, and local businesses can look forward to some more exciting features including a free photo shoot from Google. All the “location” blues might come to an end because businesses can now add the areas that they serve, and this might also change the way Google ranks the local businesses.

As local search is gaining more and more pace, how important is it to have good reviews about your business? You might have the best possible Google place showing up in the search results, but how would that convert customers for you if more and more people are speaking negative about you? Does your business really deserve negative reviews? We all like to places which are the best, but have you seen the real testimonials that your business is getting on Google Places?  Watching the video and reading the testimonials or reviews is the only way consumers can judge your business and take a decision to go with your services.

ReviewBoost is the leader in providing authentic reviews for local businesses, and any business owner should not hesitate in approaching a review syndication services company.

What is Review Syndication?

It is a trademark term that ReviewBoost.com came up with when we were searching for a better way to say “We publish the positive reviews about businesses on the Internet”, nothing more! We want every  opinion to be heard (easy to see, most of the reviews on the small businesses are negative, not many people actually care to go online and write a good review when everything is just fine!!), and that is why we help businesses by promoting their customers views on the Internet. I think any service who is attempting to do what we do should present people with a fair assessment of a product or service; otherwise it will end up being a “nofollow” blog comment on a huge blog that holds no value.

Syndicating reviews? What is it?

Asking it again won’t change the answer, but I like to repeat things over and over and over again–”It is a process of converting (almost) useless over-the-website testimonials to reviews that are read by people who are searching for services”

How does it work?

Now you’re talking!

Review Syndication from Review Boost

How is it important for businesses?

Nikesh Arora (President, Global Sales Operations and Business Development at Google) had quoted (Marketing Society Annual Conference) that “there is an online review written somewhere on the web in every 5 seconds”, and that was about 2 years ago. Not enough can be said about how human beings like their voices to be heard. It started with blogs, then social networking sites like Orkut and the beat just goes on. Consumers are continuously using the various products and services that are flooding the market, and writing reviews on the Internet is the fastest way people can communicate their thoughts about those products and services.

Do Online Reviews increase customers for a business?

Good Online reviews not only convert the customers looking for products and services online, but they also help retain the existing customers for a business. Not all businesses are bad, but why do all the businesses have negative reviews? It is obvious that businesses have thousands of customers coming in, but only few of them decide to go online to write bad reviews.  Lots of times, it is the competitors who decide to stay up late in the night and write reviews about fellows!! It is happening all the time no matter we want to believe it or not.

Let us look at a Scenario:

The first time ever I had decided to buy a website domain for myself, I decided to see what people are talking about each of the companies. After a day or two of search, I was so confused that I was thinking about hosting it for myself using my old desktop. Long story short, I ended up buying a service, andI am happy with their services for 2 years now. The same service had (still has) so many bad reviews on the Internet when you Google it with their name.

Bottom line: Reviews are good for the business, and syndicating the reviews on the internet has far more impact on business online reputation than probably any other thing. If you think you’re business drives lots of customers from the Internet, then you should worry more about how you look online rather than where you are online!!

Bad Reviews online. P.S. Review Management

“Well, don’t hate me; I have pretty bad reviews online”. What can I do? Should I:

  • Ask my customers to post reviews online? Is that asking too much from them?
  • Take my customer testimonials and post it online? (don’t do that, it is against the law)
  • Ruin my sleep in the night and write fake reviews (and make use of my grammar classes?)
  • Pay money to the websites and get rid of negative reviews
  • Even team up with other business partners and participate in review exchange programs!!!
  • How about online “business reviews search” on the Google? There was (and is I guess) and whole racket of services that is mobbing the Internet.

Business owners can be confused about it lots of times, instead of concentrating on doing what they can do to serve the customers to the best of their ability, they end up spending sleepless nights worrying about what is being thrown at them on the Internet. I have spoken to numerous business owners who have called me to their place, worried about how their businesses are misrepresented on the web.

Recently, I got a call from a client saying:

“I just want my business listing removed from Google”, I don’t care, and I don’t want my listing to look like anything”. Clearly, the business owner was frustrated and doesn’t want to face the ugly “bad-online-reviews-world” out there. The situation was bad, and I can’t think of a way to convince him to still keep his listing.

Another business owner from New York (obviously I cannot disclose the name) is willing to pay anything to get his consumer reports pushed away from the first page in Google search results for his business name.

But again, I am talking about a new kind of management system—“Online Review Management”

“So are you going to have water down every review website?”

“Aren’t review sites already biased? The reviews actually syndicated at least are real and not biased”

“Is there going to be an online degree soon?” Well let us not get ahead of ourselves.

Business online reviews written by consumers are like a movie about a company. Online users feel good going home (the business in this case) when they read good reviews, and vice versa when they don’t like the movie (the reviews). Reviews have given social media a new dimension. Business owners and consumers alike are confused about which way all these millions of reviews are going, especially when it comes to ratings and reviews about a small businesses. And that brings me to ask again if a review management system has a place in online marketing world? Reviews are good, why not use them to our advantage?
